PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve timing adjusting device capable of reducing linking force generated at a fitting operation of a lock pin.SOLUTION: In the valve timing adjusting device, relative rotation of a housing 11 and a vane rotor 20 is regulated since the lock pin 30 reciprocatively and axially stored in a storage hole 221 arranged on the vane rotor 20 is fitted into a fitting hole 31 where one end of the lock pin is arranged on an inner wall of a rear plate 19. An area of a contact surface 300 wherein an inner wall of a front plate 18 and the other end of the lock pin 30 come in contact with each other when the lock pin 30 is not fitted into the fitting hole 31 is smaller than an area when the other end of the lock pin 30 is projected to the inner wall of the front plate 18. Thus, the linking force generated when the housing 11 and the lock pin 30 tend to separate is reduced, and reduction on pre-established ignition timing retard angle release pressure and ignition timing advance angle release pressure can be restrained. |
