PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the flow rate of a fluid containing pulsation, by converting the pulsation into temperature variations.SOLUTION: At a heating point A of a pipe 10, a heating section 12 is arranged, and at a measuring point B in its downstream part, a temperature detecting section 13 is arranged to measure the absorbance of the fluid. The temperature detecting section 13 is provided with a light emitting section 13a and a light receiving section 13b, and is connected to a light-intensity detecting section 16 and a section 17 for measuring the frequency of a pulsating flow. In an aqueous solution containing pulsation by a pump 11, portions of time zones when flow velocity is high and portions of time zones when the velocity is low exist. When the heating point A is irradiated with a heating laser beam, a temperature marker section due to temperature variations having periodicity is produced in the aqueous solution according to its flow velocity. This temperature marker section by the temperature variations is measured as variations with time in the absorbance at the measuring point B by the temperature detecting section 13, and the frequency of the pulsating flow is acquired by the light-intensity detecting section 16 and the section 17 for measuring the frequency of a pulsating flow, to convert it into the flow rate of the aqueous solution. |
