The fastening element has a body (3), an actuating element (1) and a locking unit (2) with an adjustable cross-section perpendicular to the fastening direction of the fastening element. The locking unit is switched by a modification of adjustable cross-section between a locking condition, in which the fastening element is fixed at the support structure, and a release condition, in which the fastening element is removed from the support structure, by moving the fastening element relative to the body. The actuating element has a soft elastomeric head or a head made of polymethyl methacrylate.
