Disclosed is an information providing system which associates video information, such as video about real-world situations, with a user's view of the real world and provides said video information. A camera attached to the user takes video of the real world. A position / orientation estimation means estimates the real-world position and orientation from the video taken by the camera. A video image transformation means transforms pre-recorded video images of a real-world situation to match the estimated real-world position and orientation. A superpositioning means superpositions the video taken by the camera with the video images transformed by the video image transformation means.
