PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device which can suppress deterioration of a phosphor, by appropriately changing an irradiation range of a light beam of a fluorescent wheel, and to provide a projector which can project a clear image.SOLUTION: The light source device includes the fluorescent wheel 101; a drive device for rotating the fluorescent wheel 101; a light source for irradiating excitation light on a phosphor layer of the fluorescent wheel 101; a rotation position detection means for detecting a rotation reference position 101a arranged on the fluorescent wheel 101; an irradiation control means for controlling a lighting start timing of the light source; an irradiation time integrating means for integrating excitation light irradiation times, by dividing into a plurality of predetermined areas of the fluorescent wheel 101; an integrated time storage means for storing the irradiation times of the respective predetermined areas; and an irradiation range control means for changing the lighting start timing of the light source when the integrated time of either of the respective predetermined areas exceeds a predetermined value. |
