PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device and electronic equipment which perform high-quality color display without being affected by heat.SOLUTION: The optical device 44 includes a fixing member 70 for fixing a polarization separating element 441B and a reflective electro-optical device 50B to a cross dichroic prism 443. The cross dichroic prism 443 is formed of a material having a positive linear expansion coefficient, and the fixing member 70 is formed of a material having a negative linear expansion coefficient. When heat is applied to the cross dichroic prism 443 and the fixing member 70, a force in an expansion direction acts upon the cross dichroic prism 443, and a force in a contraction direction acts upon the fixing member 70; thereby relative misregistration between the cross dichroic prism 443 and the polarization separating element 441B fixed to the fixing member 70 can be suppressed to provide high-quality color display. |
