PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a sealed honeycomb structure which can form a plurality of regions having different depths of sealed parts in the end face of the sealed honeycomb structure.SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the sealed honeycomb structure includes a process for forming a pillar-like honeycomb molding having a wall which partitions/forms a plurality of cells extending from one end face to the other end face, and a sealing process for forming sealed parts at the ends the cells of the honeycomb molding. The sealing process has a sealing slurry press-fit operation in which the sealing slurry is stored in a bottomed cylinder-shaped inner container having a protrusion forming region in part of a bottom part which is arranged/installed in a bottomed cylinder-shaped outer container, while gas is introduced between the outer container and the inner container, and the protrusion forming region is made to project toward the inner of the inner container to form the protrusion, the honeycomb molding is inserted into the inner container while one end is pushed to the bottom surface of the inner container, the sealing slurry is pressed into the cells, and after that, the honeycomb molding is extracted from the inner container. |
