A safety needle device (12) for a medical injector (10) supporting a needle (11) projecting forwardly from the front of the injector body (16) has a tubular sleeve 159 for a supported needle, the sleeve being slidable rearwardly with respect to the needle to expose at least the tip (23) thereof. The sleeve (15) has a forward end for contacting an injection site and a removable cover (20) is (5) engaged in sealing contact with the forward end of the sleeve. The sleeve may have an in-turned flange (17) at its forward end defining an orifice (18) through which the needle (11) projects when the sleeve slides rearwardly. The removable cover (20) may effect a seal to that flange (17). |
