PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that, when metal members are brazed to surfaces of terminal parts formed at a solid electrolyte forming a detecting element, brazed parts in the terminal parts are broken down in the tensile test in the vertical direction of the metal members. SOLUTION: The detecting element is provided with a detection part which is composed by forming a pair of electrodes on both main faces of a zirconia solid electrolyte substrate and which detects an environmental state, the terminal parts which are formed on the surface of the substrate and which are connected electrically to the electrodes and the metal members which are brazed to the terminal parts by a brazing material. The terminal parts are composed of composite conductors which are composed of metal phases and metal oxide phases, and the maximum distance between the adjacent metal phases in a reflection electron micrograph on the surfaces of the composite conductor layers is controlled to be 10 μm or less. |
