The device (10) has different electrical characteristics depending on whether the coupling between the chip (24) and the at least part of the antenna (42) is altered. A method of associating information with an object comprises: coupling the RFID device (10) of claim 1 to the object; and transferring the object to a user; wherein the RFID device (10) is configured to change electrical characteristics during expected use of the object.</p>
