A method of determining a configuration of a first network node in response to a change in configuration requested by a second network node of a wireless telecommunications network, a network node and a computer program product are disclosed. The method of determining a configuration of a first network node in response to a change in configuration of the first network node requested by a second network node of a wireless telecommunications network comprises the steps of: even when no pending handover trigger involving the first network node has been identified by the second network node, transmitting a reconfiguration message from the second network node to the first network node, the reconfiguration message encoding both updated configuration information and updated security information, the updated configuration information requesting an existing configuration of the first network node to be changed to an updated configuration and the updated security information requesting an existing security configuration for authentication between the first and second network nodes to be changed to an updated security configuration; and determining the configuration of the first network node from authentication information encoded in a message received from the first network node, the authentication information being encoded in accordance with that security configuration being utilised by the first network node. In this way, it is possibly to reliably determine whether or not a requested configuration change has been made simply by examining authentication information contained in a subsequent message from the first network node.
