<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate user's understanding of hierarchical structures by automatically collapsing unnecessary hierarchical items out of expanded hierarchical items in a tree structure to hide complicated hierarchical structures. <P>SOLUTION: A computer configuring a tree structure display apparatus has as functional blocks for collapsing a collapse start determination processing part 121, a collapse target acquisition processing part 122 and a collapse end determination processing part 123. The processing part 121 determines whether or not to start a collapse of an expanded tree structure. When a collapse start is determined, the processing part 122 acquires and collapses hierarchical items to be collapsed.
