A boat lift 10 for use with an ocean structure 20 is implemented so that the lift includes one or more mount components 100 for attaching to side regions of a boat 40, and one or more mechanisms (120, 130, 140, Fig 2) coupling between the one or more mount components and the structure for operably lifting up the one or more mount components and/or lifting down the one or more mount components and thereby raising the boat relative to the structure and/or lowering the boat relative to the structure. Moreover, the one or more mechanisms may be operable to follow motion of the boat when engaged onto the structure to a top height of ocean waves (210, Fig 3A) and maintain the boat at this height prior to raising the boat above the ocean waves. The structure may include one or more of a portion of an oil rig, a hull of a cargo vessel, a base of a tower of a large offshore wind turbine, a central floating platform of an ocean wave energy park, or a passenger ship. |
