A method for the surgical treatment of the vertebral artery syndrome comprises the separation of the vertebral artery with the standard access, the assessment of the extent of the occlusion. From the same access, the decompression of the vertebral artery is performed. With this aim, the muscular fibers of the anterior scalenus, the long muscle of the neck, the intertransverse muscles are partially dissected. Then the ascending artery of the neck is separated. In the setting of arresting blood flow along the ascending artery, the latter is cut downstream the artery mouth. The vascular anastomosis is applied between the vertebral artery above the occlusion area and the ascending artery of the neck. |
