The cage (1) has lower, intermediate and upper parallel U-bolts that are fixed perpendicular to two columns (4) i.e. rigid plate bars, of a ladder (2), and parallel long elements (5) connecting the U-bolts. Each of two separated cage parts (1a, 1b) includes two parallel U-bolt portions (3a, 3b) connected together by one of the elements perpendicular to a plane of each U-bolt portion. The cage parts are assembled together by the element connecting the U-bolt portions of the parts to constitute the U-bolts of the cage. An independent claim is also included for a method for mounting a safety cage of a ladder.
