PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a high-reliability hermetic container which achieves both sealing strength and airtightness.SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the hermetic container includes an assembling step of arranging, between first and second glass substrates 12, a sealing material 13 including first and second straight line portions 1, 2 extending in different directions and a coupling portion 3 connecting the first and second straight line portions 1, 2, with a viscosity of the sealing material having a negative temperature coefficient; and a scanning sealing step of performing scanning to the first straight line portion 1 and the coupling portion 3 of the sealing material 13 while emitting local heating light at least once and then performing scanning to the second straight line portion 2 and the coupling portion 3 of the sealing material 13 while emitting the local heating light at least once. The assembling step further includes forming at least a part of the sealing material 3 at the coupling portion 3 with a film thickness smaller than that in a region 1a adjacent to the coupling portion 3 of the first straight line portion 1. |
