PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data management system that transfers a plurality of data managed on operating systems of a plurality of information processing apparatuses to another information processing apparatus without preparing a plurality of floppy(R) disks by causing the information processing apparatuses to recognize a large-capacity external storage device as a floppy (R) disk.SOLUTION: The data management system includes a plurality of information processing apparatuses each having a slot on which an external storage device can be mounted, and uses an emulation system for file management using an operating system. The external storage device includes a physical switch for switching between emulation mode in which the external storage device is virtually recognized as a floppy (R) disk by the information processing apparatuses and normal mode in which the external storage device operates as usual. |
