摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a carbon nanotube having more satisfactory orientational properties and linearity, a single crystal substrate for producing a carbon nanotube, and a carbon nanotube.SOLUTION: A single crystal quartz substrate is prepared (S10). The surface of the substrate is subjected to mirror-like finishing (S20), and further, single crystals on the surface of the substrate are regrown to form a new natural face (S30). Since the new natural face is formed on the surface in this way, the lattice arrangement of the crystals of the surface can be made into a smoother state than heretofore. Thus, by using the single crystal quartz substrate, when a carbon nanotube is formed on the substrate by a series of treatments (S40 to S60) of annealing treatment, the arrangement of catalyst metal and the feed of carbon raw material gas, the phenomenon that strain is caused even on the carbon nanotube formed on the single crystal quartz substrate by the strain of the lattice arrangement of the crystals can be suppressed.
