A resonant converter comprises a first and a second input terminal (1, 2) in order to connect a voltage source (VBulk). The first end of a first switch (S1) is connected to the first input terminal (1). The second end of the first switch (S1) is connected to the first end of a second switch (S2). The second end of the second switch (S2) is connected to the second input terminal (2). A first end of a resonant circuit comprising at least one resonant inductance, at least one resonant capacitor (C1, C2, Cs), and at least a primary winding of a transformer (T1, T1—a, T1—b) is connected to the second end of the first switch (S1) and to the first end of the second switch (S2). A third diode (D3) is connected in conduction direction from the first end of the first switch (S1) to the first end of a clamping capacitor (Cclamp). A fourth diode (D4) is connected in conduction direction from the second end of the clamping capacitor (Cclamp) to the second end of the second switch (S2). A comparator (5) is connected to the first and second end of the clamping capacitor (Cclamp). The comparator (5) is connected to a pulse control unit (3) in order to control the first and the second switch (S1, S2).
