PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coil for boosting a power-factor improving circuit effectively blocking noise by the fewer number of parts and a simple configuration and an AC-DC converter equipped with the coil.SOLUTION: A toroidal coil for boosting the power-factor improving circuit includes a winding folded-wound in at least a part of a bobbin so that the overlapped winding just above the winding is not lap-wound in the same direction. In the coil for boosting the power-factor improving circuit, the center of the winding of the bobbin is formed in a closed loop. When characteristics are noted by an equivalent circuit, a stray capacitance between the windings between a winding-start and a winding-end is brought to a series state in the toroidal coil for boosting the power-factor improving circuit.
