PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly accurately obtain an optical property distribution such as an absorption coefficient in a subject.SOLUTION: A photoacoustic imaging apparatus includes: an acoustic converting unit 1 configured to receive acoustic waves 81, 82 generated by irradiating a subject 6 with emitted light 4 and to convert the acoustic waves to an electrical signal; and a processing unit 2 configured to determine a light intensity distribution inside the subject 6 on the basis of a light intensity distribution or an illuminance distribution of the light 4 radiated on the surface of the subject 6 and to generate image data on the basis of the electrical signal and the light intensity distribution inside the subject 6. |
