PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control system capable of improving the fuel consumption when automatically controlling the vehicle speed with the set vehicle speed being the target value.SOLUTION: The vehicle control system includes a fluid transmission mechanism for transmitting the power between a power source and driving wheels of a vehicle, and a lock-up device which is provided parallel to the fluid transmission mechanism, changeable to an engagement state in which the power source and the driving wheels are mechanically connected to each other without via the fluid transmission mechanism, and an open state in which the power source and the driving wheels are not mechanically connected to each other, and changed to the engagement state if the vehicle speed of the vehicle reaches or exceeds the first vehicle speed in the open state.
