PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive wear resistant member having improved lubricating liquid supply performance and high sliding characteristics and versatility, and to provide a rolling supporting device, a mechanical seal and a faucet valve using the same.SOLUTION: The wear resistant member uses ceramics constituted of columnar crystals 1 containing dominantly silicon nitride, and grain boundary phases 2 containing dominantly metallic element oxide. The surface of the wear resistant member is polished, where pores 3 each having a maximum diameter of 11-50 μm are open at the rate of 5-50 pieces per area of 1.2 mm. On the polished surface, first columnar crystals 1a exist, and inside the pores 3, a plurality of second columnar crystals 1b each having a larger diameter than the first columnar crystal 1a exist to cross one another. |
