PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical communication system capable of easily performing a loop-back test of an optical signal without the need to change the connection to an external device or an optical transmission line, an optical signal transmitting/receiving method for the optical communication system, and an optical transmitting/receiving module.SOLUTION: The optical communication system has optical transmitting/receiving modules 1 and 2. The optical transmitting/receiving module 1 has a transmitter 3 and a receiver 4. The optical transmitting/receiving module 2 has a transmitter 6 and a receiver 7. During a normal communication mode, the receiver 7 receives an optical signal S11 transmitted from the transmitter 3, and the receiver 4 receives an optical signal S21 transmitted from the transmitter 6. During a loop-back communication mode, at least the receiver 4 receives an optical signal S12 transmitted from the transmitter 3, transferred by the optical transmitting/receiving module 2 and transmitted from the transmitter 6 to the receiver 4. |
