The device has a clamping conveyor (3) with a treatment conveying path (3b) for tilting a filled container (5) such that filling material moistens the headspace. A feeding container belt (7) feeds the container toward the clamping conveyor, and a discharge conveyor belt (9) conveys the container from the clamping conveyor. The feeding container belt and the discharge conveyor belt are driven differently from each other and arranged in a container receiving area (3a) and container delivery region (3c) of the clamping conveyor, respectively.
