摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery and a manufacturing method therefor, imparting high conductivity to cathode active material particles with an olivine crystal structure, and with high energy density and high output/input characteristics maintained.SOLUTION: The active material particles are made by being directly coated with a metal simple substance at least on a part of surfaces of core particles containing at least lithium and transition metal as metal elements. The metal simple substance is nickel or copper, the cathode active material is manufactured by preparing a precursor compound containing the metal element and a composition containing the core particles, baking the composition under reducing gas atmosphere at a temperature higher than thermal composition temperature of the precursor compound. By structuring an electrode active material layer with the use of the metal coating active material, a lithium secondary battery with high energy density and high input/output characteristics is realized.
