PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating a reactor in which the reactor itself can suppress affection upon reactions and express high rate of selectivity in a method that prepares ethylene oxide by performing contact vapor phase oxidation on ethylene with gases containing oxygen in the presence of silver catalyst.SOLUTION: There is provided the method for preparing ethylene oxide that performs contact vapor phase oxidation on ethylene with gases containing oxygen in the presence of silver catalyst, wherein the reactor on which pretreatment is performed with a chlorine compound is employed.
