PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a low-cost and high-quality positive electrode active material for a lithium ion battery by promoting the conduction of heat in a raw material in a firing step to actualize a reduction of a firing time and an increase in the filling amount of the raw material.SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing the positive electrode active material for the lithium ion battery includes a step of firing lithium-containing carbonate as a precursor of the positive electrode active material for the lithium ion battery with a combination of heater heating and microwave heating.
