PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric wire and a cable which can use more of recycled material of a cross-linked polyolefin scrap material than a conventional one and have a coating material superior in mechanical characteristics such as extension and electric characteristics.SOLUTION: The insulated electric wire and cable have at least one layer of the coating layer formed of a resin which is a recycled material mixed resin consisting of: a cross-linked polyolefin (based) recycled material with a gel fraction of 40% or less, of 60 mass% or less; and a low-density polyethylene manufactured by a high-pressure radical polymerization method with a MFR value of 0.25 or less measured in a condition of temperature 190°C, load 21.18N based on JIS K 7210. Here, the amount of blending of the cross-linked polyolefin (based) recycled material is 60 mass% or less against the recycled material mixed resin.
