PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner capable of cleaning a floor surface with the optimum suction force for the kind and state of the floor surface.SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner includes: a cleaner body 21 with an electric blower 2; a suction nozzle 31 connected to the cleaner body 21 via a hose 24, etc. for sucking dust on a cleaned surface; a dust sensor 8 for detecting the dust passing through an air intake passage (not shown) which communicates with the electric blower 2 and the suction nozzle 31; an electric motor 10 disposed within the suction nozzle 31 for driving a rotary brush 30 for combing up dust; and current detecting means 41 for detecting the current of the electric motor 10. Output values of the dust sensor 8 per unit time are added up by prescribed cycle, and the easiness of removal of dust on the cleaned surface is indexed (called "floor surface index" hereafter) based on the result of addition, and the volume of power distribution to the electric blower 2 is changed by computing means (not shown) for computing the output from the current detecting means 41 and the output of the floor surface index. In this way, information on the dust on the floor surface can be securely obtained and the kind of the floor surface can be assumed, and as a result, the optimum suction force can be set. |
