The present invention discloses a method for estimating frequency offset and an apparatus thereof, which include: after receiving a sub-frame, transforming the down-synchronization code of the sub-frame into frequency domain, and executing correlation operation on the transformed down-synchronization code and local frequency domain synchronization code, and obtaining a conjugate down-synchronization code sequence; judging the position of the maximum value of the conjugate down-synchronization code sequence, and calculating frequency offset value according to the position of the maximum value. The estimation method provided by the present invention can work relatively stably without implementing precise sample value position, accurate timing synchronization, and even without acknowledging multi-path distribution and position information.
