<p>Disclosed is a portable navigation device (1) that includes a traveling direction storage means (32a). This traveling direction storage means (32a) receives, at a navigation start location, a traveling direction setting operation in which a user presses down a traveling direction setting button while pointing the portable terminal (3) toward a planned traveling direction, and stores the orientation of the portable terminal (3) in this operation as a planned traveling direction of the user. Furthermore, the portable navigation device (1) includes a holding direction storage means (32b) for storing, as a portable terminal holding direction, the orientation that the portable terminal (3) is facing when held. Moreover, the portable navigation device (1) includes a footstep count detecting means (21) for detecting the number of footsteps of the user. In addition, the portable navigation device (1) includes a traveling direction detecting means (23) for detecting the direction the user travels in, based on the relationship between the planned traveling direction and the portable terminal holding direction. Finally, the portable navigation device computes the current location of the user, based on the step length of the user which has been recorded beforehand, the number of footsteps, and the traveling direction of the user, and then displays the current location together with map information.</p> |
