PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a panoramic image pickup device capable of capturing a high-definition panoramic image by only taking a picture while panning a camera.SOLUTION: The panoramic image pickup device includes a first photographing section 1 for photographing a subject as a main object, a second photographing section 2 for capturing an image in a direction different from that of the first photographing section 1, a drive control means 15 for driving the first photographing section 1 and the second photographing section 2 simultaneously in parallel to cause the first and second photographing sections 1 and 2 to capture at least two consecutive images respectively, and a panoramic image synthesizing means 26 for calculating a distance of movement between the two images from the images picked up by the second photographing section 2, and panoramically synthesizing the two images picked up by the first image photographing section 1 on the basis of the movement distance. |
