PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus including a cover unit which is arranged to a body unit so as to be freely opened/closed with a reading part, and capable of preventing occurrence of a failure in the reading part.SOLUTION: The image reading apparatus 1 includes: the body unit 5 having a first image reading part 10; and the cover unit 15 attached to the body unit 5 so as to be freely opened/closed. The cover unit 15 includes a document tray 16, a U-turn conveyance route 30 and a second image reading part 50. The second image reading part 50 reads out an image of a document conveyed from the document tray 16 along the U-turn conveyance route 30. The second image reading part 50 includes a second image sensor, a sensor holding part and a shock absorbing member. The second image sensor is held in the box-like sensor holding part. The shock absorbing member fills a space between the bottom surface of the second image sensor and the bottom surface of the sensor holding part to prevent the second image sensor and the sensor holding part from being brought into contact with each other due to the rotation of the cover part 15. |
