PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means capable of writing caption information contained in a broadcasting wave into a memory and reading the written caption information from a desired part.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a television receiver having: a receiving unit for receiving a digital television broadcast; a caption information extracting unit for extracting caption information from a signal of the received digital television broadcast; a ring-shaped buffer memory unit; a pointer processing unit which has a read pointer holding means for holding a read pointer of the buffer memory unit and a write pointer holding means for holding a write pointer of the buffer memory unit and manages these pointer holding means; a read unit for starting read processing of the buffer memory unit from a read pointer position; a write unit for starting writing the extracted caption information from a write pointer position to the buffer memory unit; and an operation processing unit having a pointer processing unit control means for controlling the pointer processing unit by giving thereto an instruction for determining values of the pointers to be held by the pointer holding means. |
