An obstacle detection system includes a plurality of ultrasonic sensors and a controller. The plurality of ultrasonic sensors include first and second ultrasonic sensors. Each of the first and second ultrasonic sensors is disposed on one side of a vehicle bumper such that the beam shaft thereof is directed to an intermediate portion of the bumper at an angle deflected in a horizontal direction from the surface normal direction of the bumper.
