PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a green molded body which can keep its form, and an aluminum titanate sintered compact using the same.SOLUTION: The green molded body includes: an inorganic compound source powder containing an aluminum source powder and a titanium source powder; and an organic binder wherein the viscosity of 2 wt.% aqueous solution of the organic binder at 20°C is not less than 5,000 mPa s. A method for producing the aluminum titanate sintered compact comprises the steps of: molding a raw material mixture containing the inorganic compound source powder containing the aluminum source powder and the titanium source powder, and the organic binder to obtain the green molded body; heating the obtained green molded body at 150-900°C to remove the organic binder; and calcinating the green molded body from which the organic binder has been removed at a temperature of not less than 1,300°C, wherein the viscosity of 2 wt.% of aqueous solution of the organic binder at 20°C is not less than 5,000 mPa s. |
