PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrostatic latent image developing carrier that is excellent in toner spending property and wear resistance (abrasion resistance and peeling resistance) of a covering layer, neither lowers its charging quantity when output of a large image area is performed, nor causes carrier adhesion on an image even when output of a small image area is performed for a long period, and also to provide a manufacturing method of the same.SOLUTION: The electrostatic latent image developing carrier is obtained by, after covering a surface of a magnetic core particle with a covering layer, heating the covered product at a heating temperature of 100-230°C. The covering layer contains a crosslinked material formed by hydrolyzing a copolymer containing trialkoxy siloxane ester (meta)acrylate and dialkoxy alkylsiloxane ester (meta)acrylate to produce a silanol group, and crosslinking the silanol group with condensation by a catalyst, and barium sulfate. The contents ratio Ba/Si of Ba and Si to the whole elements measured by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) is 0.01 to 0.08. |
