PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a front light device suitably used for a reflecting liquid crystal display device, and a surface emitter 2 used therefor.SOLUTION: The light guide type surface emitter 2 uses a transparent substrate containing a light diffusing particle 22. The surface emitter 2 guides light in the length direction of the transparent substrate while scattering the light in the thickness direction of the transparent substrate. The transparent substrate is composed of a light guide plate 21 having a haze value in thickness direction of 8% or less, and an arithmetic value (m/%) obtained by dividing a luminance attenuation coefficient E (m) by a haze value per 5 (mm) thickness of the transparent substrate is ≥0.55 (m/%) and ≤10.0 (m/%). |
