PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing polyester resin, capable of suppressing a IV rise to decrease a terminal carboxylic content, and capable of making a polyester film excellent in hydrolysis resistance.SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing polyester resin includes: a reactant generation process for reacting a dicarboxylic acid component and a diol component for esterification under the influence of a catalyst containing a titanium compound to generate an esterification product having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.40 dL/g or more; and a solid phase polymerization process for heat-treating the generated esterification product in a solid state, thereby increasing the intrinsic viscosity at a rate of 0.01 dL/g or less per hour for solid phase polymerization, in order to obtain the polyester resin having the intrinsic viscosity of 0.65-0.90 dL/g and the terminal carboxylic content of 20 equivalents/ton or less. |
