PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply measuring mitochondrial metabolic activity without damaging a mitochondrial membrane.SOLUTION: The method for measuring mitochondrial metabolic activity includes adding a hypotonic solution for cell penetration to cells treated with a streptolysin O-containing solution, performing permeation and measuring energy metabolic activity of mitochondria of the permeated cells.
