PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microwave discharge light source device capable of surely starting microwave discharge even without using an ultraviolet-ray enhancer which lacks certainty in an electrodeless type and without applying a high-voltage pulse at starting in an electrode-fitted type.SOLUTION: The microwave discharge light source device includes a light-emitting tube (4) wherein a light-emitting material emitting light in discharge with microwaves is enclosed in a discharge space (3), a microwave generator (8) for applying the microwaves to the light-emitting tube (4), an external force-applying mechanism (12) for granting impact force or vibration at a level of not destroying the light-emitting tube (4) to the light-emitting tube (4), and a control device (13) for operating the external force-applying mechanism (12) for a fixed period while applying the microwaves from the microwave generator (8) to the light-emitting tube (4). |
