PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-reliability optical device which can be applied to a surface type optical element, and to provide a method for manufacturing the optical device.SOLUTION: The optical device 50 is provided with a support substrate 1; a surface type optical element 2 arranged on the support substrate 1; a translucent cover 4 arranged at the upper part of the surface type optical element 2; a translucent sealing member 5, configured to cover at least the surface-type optical element 2 and packed between the surface type optical element 2 and the translucent cover 4; and a translucent sealing member dam 10 which is internally arranged with the surface-type optical element 2 and the translucent sealing member 5, configured so as to be butted to the translucent cover 4 at a portion of the upper surface, and internally formed with a translucent sealing member storage space 14 for absorbing expansion and contraction of the translucent sealing member 5. |
