<p>The present invention provides a cot, wherein the cot (2) comprises two side walls (4,6), two end walls (8,10) and a base (32), wherein at least a portion of the one of the side walls (4,6) is moveable between open and closed positions; and a locking means (24), wherein the locking means (24) comprises an elongate member slideably moveable between locked and unlocked positions, which further comprises a first retaining means, the first retaining means comprising a first portion (31) associated with the cot and a second portion (30) associated with the elongate member (24) and which are mutually and co-operatively engageable and which retains the lock in a closed position. The locking mechanism (24) may be operable using one hand. Preferably, the frames (17) of each gate (12,14) further comprise ground engaging supports (18,20), this ensures that the cot (2) is stable whilst the gates (12,14) are open. The cot (2) also preferably comprises a second locking means, which may be actuated by the first locking means (24), which locks the gates (12), 14 to the base (32) of the cot (2), and prevents vertical movement of the base (32) with respect to the side gates (12,14) to ensure that it is not possible for an infant to become trapped or injured.</p> |
