The method involves sending two transmitting signals (8a, 8b) with two radiation characteristics by an ultrasonic sensor (3), and receiving reflectance signals (9a, 9b), which are formed as the transmitting signals that are reflected from objects (5a, 5b), respectively. A target angle (b) between a connecting line deviated by the ultrasonic sensor and the object, and a reference line (7) deviated by the ultrasonic sensor is determined based on reflectance signals. The transmitting signals with two frequencies are sent for generating different radiation characteristics. An independent claim is also included for a driver assistance device for a vehicle comprising a computing device.
