PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reformer for reforming a raw fuel using a burner to produce a reformed gas, which is a miniaturizable reformer including a flame holding member which is attached to a tip nozzle of a burner and maintains combustion of the flame of the burner, the flame holding member being formed of a ceramic.SOLUTION: By forming a flame holding cylinder 30, which maintains combustion of flame F, of a ceramic, the insulation properties of the flame holding cylinder 30 will increase compared with the flame holding cylinder formed of a steel material such as a conventional stainless steel. Therefore, for example, even if eccentricity or inclination occurs in flame F emitted from a burner to locally heat the flame holding cylinder 30, the local heat transfer from the flame holding cylinder 30 to an outside member of the flame holding cylinder 30 can be prevented. Thus, since the outside member of the flame holding cylinder 30 is not locally heated, the distance between the flame holding cylinder 30 and the outside member of the flame holding cylinder 30 (such as a heat chamber 16, a reforming catalyst 14, and a heat insulator 17) can be shortened, allowing the miniaturization of a reformer 11 to be achieved. |
