PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which can attain high transmittance and has proper display quality.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate provided with a pixel electrode having a first belt-like main electrode portion and a first sub electrode portion connected to one end of the first main electrode portion and extending, in a direction different from that of the first main electrode portion; a second substrate which is disposed to face the first substrate and is provided with a counter substrate, having a second main electrode portion formed in a belt-like shape substantially parallel to the first main electrode portion and disposed to form a lateral electric field, between the first and second main electrode portions; and a liquid crystal layer held in between the first and the second substrates. |
