PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently regulate a flow of a refrigerant while maintaining a sealed chamber in a system providing stored thermal energy for use during a peak electrical demand.SOLUTION: A mixed-phase regulator (300) replaces a thermostatic expansion valve used in a conventional air-conditioning system that, together with capillary tubes and orifices, regulates the refrigerant fed from a compressor to a heat load.
