摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device which is capable of improving display quality by suppressing occurrence of display defects such as a flicker, a method for driving the liquid crystal device, and an electronic apparatus.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device includes a first alignment film 13 provided on the side of a liquid crystal layer of an element substrate 10 in contact with a pixel electrode 12, a second alignment film 23 provided on the side of the liquid crystal layer of a counter substrate 20, and a dielectric film 38 which is provided between the counter electrode 20 and the second alignment film 23 and has a film thickness thinner than that of the liquid crystal layer and has a specific resistance higher than that of the liquid crystal layer and is made of SiO. A counter electrode potential which is set so as to reduce flickers caused by a parasitic capacitance of a switching element 40, is applied to a counter electrode 22. When a higher voltage is defined as positive and a lower voltage is defined as negative with the counter electrode potential as a reference, a positive voltage and a negative voltage are alternately applied to the pixel electrode 12, and a length of a first period for which the positive voltage is applied is set shorter than that of a second period for which the negative voltage is applied.
