The invention relates to a novel method for producing dithiine tetracarboximides of the general formula (I), where R1 and R2 have the meanings given above, characterized in that succinic acid monoamides of the formula (VI), where R is R1 or R2, is reacted with an excess of thionyl chloride, optionally in the presence of a thinner, the excess of thionyl chloride is subsequently removed, and the product mixture thus obtained is transformed into the dithiine tetracarboximide of the formula (I) in a second state in an organic solvent.
